AUTUMN FEAST – NATURE’S HARVEST
AUTUMN FEAST features the story of two children on a blustery autumn walk through a park. Golden leaves are falling. Animals are busy gathering food to store away. As they cross a variety of wildlife habitats, the children’s curiosity is sparked by birds, fungi, nuts, berries, fruits and other enchanting signs of autumn. And the science of what happens in autumn is brought to life by half a dozen pages of illustrated information about the wildlife and natural processes of the season. After five years of research and collaborative work this book completes the SEASONS IN THE WILD series which combines the deep scientific knowledge of ecologist Alex Morss, my own interest in poetry and storytelling, and the stunning illustrations of Cinyee Chiu. Also in our series: WINTER SLEEP (which explores the processes of hibernation), BUSY SPRING (which brings to life the extraordinary, energetic phenology of springtime) and WILD SUMMER (which explains the science of the ongoing climate crisis in a way appropriate for young readers.) Ideal for children aged 4-8.
‘Charming words exclaiming and explaining the magic of nature’s most dynamic seasons all against a backdrop of vibrant and detailed illustrations.’ ― Nick Baker, Naturalist and TV Presenter
